Activities and Community Involvement
At Goldenlink Academy (GLA), we strive to teach our students how to be well-rounded, critically-thinking individuals. A student's growing experience does not simply sit within the walls of a clasrrom. Education experience comes from all settings, both within and outside school. Community involvement aligns with GLA's core values; fostering not only responsibility within the student, it also promotes integrity, empathy, and the understanding and appreciation of community relationships. It is one of the most important activities for young adults to partake in.
The Ontario Ministry of Education requires each student to complete 40 hours of Community Involvement before receiving their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. And at GLA, students will experience community involvement through a variety of different settings. Students at GLA have an opportunity to participate in a wide variety of community service projects: providing assistance to individuals, to the school community, to the broader Markham and Toronto area, and to national and global organizations.
Below is the list of community service projects at Goldenlink Academy, but not limited to:
- Habitat for Humanity
- St. John Ambulance
- WWF's CN Climb for Nature
- Senior homes
